+5 Sailing Trip
So far so good but it is still cold. From the marine charts it is about 55 where they are and it is not going to get warmer for a couple days.
Current position is N34.16.59 W132.02.711. So add this to the scorecard

They got pretty much due west of where they were yesterday. The winds were light and there are two small low pressure areas in front of them which will affect wind for the next three days. If they head south the temperature goes up but the wind drops to almost 0. So the plan is to change heading to West (270) and drop down after a day or two.
For mothers worried about mid ocean collisions, they have seen ships but distances are so great only their lights at night make them visible. It is very flat out there.
Because the winds are probably going to be light for the next three days it is hard to predict progress but they have covered 25% of the distance in 5 days which is about what they figured. This is good as they have enough Snickers to make the trip without too much hardship.
No news on fishing or other personal stuff. Brian is supposed to be doing some video recording. It seems they are still doing the naval 4 hr shift deal for steering but both these details are pure speculation.
Tomorrow we will know better if the weather forecast matches the actual conditions. Wind maps and reports are measured at 10 meters or 30ft. up which means they are higher than actual on the water conditions. This may be why the boys report lighter winds than the weather service. Further study is required or maybe just ask NOAA.
